The 2011 BMW lineup will be debuted in B.C. at the Vancouver Motorcycle in January.
One of the new models peaking my interest is the G 650GS. I have taken a liking to adventure bikes this past season and in the coming season, I want to spend more time on one.
The 650GS maintains BMW standards for high torque, low consumption single cylinder engines. You can still expect those heated hand grips although they are not standard equipment. ABS brakes are another option for this model.
The redesigned body scopes incl. windshield with GS moulding and two-tone seat. Nineteen inch front and 17″ rear cast light alloy wheels are also part of the new design. The rear wheel rim is wider now for better riding stability.
Lean and ergonomic 14 litre tank ought to get you where you want to go. As us Galz are all different sizes (and I am sure BMW was thinking of us when they chose this – lol) – three different seat heights: standard 780 mm (about 30″), optional low slung 750 mm (about 29″), high seat (black) 820 mm (around 32″). The F800GS, another one of my favourite models, has a 34″ seat height so this variation in the G 650 GS is great.
They still have luggage carrier with lockable storage compartments although in this photo from BMW it looks more like a briefcase.
Don’t miss your opportunity to check it out at the Vancouver Motorcycle Show January 20-23 at the Tradex in Abbotsford.
