Inspired by the GR Supra GT4 EVO2 race car, the MkV is limited to 25 in Canada finessed to appeal to drivers with a need for speed.
I wish I could be part of a vehicle design team. I would revel in the discussion of how to make a particular performance car while sticking to a profitable budget. The challenge would be exhilarating. Would I be happy with the end result or would I be left questioning the practicality of what was created?
Enter the final edition of the Toyota GR Supra. The last time I got behind the wheel of one was 2023. With no plans on the horizon for the next iteration, the 2026 MkV is the last of its kind. The end of an era. A legend. With 1300 made for North America, only 25 are available in Canada and, I got the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one of them.
“Toyota GAZOO Racing engineers have ensured every GR Supra delivers exceptional track-ready performance worthy of the GR badge – and this year, Toyota celebrates this legendary sports car with the limited production MkV Final Edition,” said Robert Tsang, Vice President, Toyota Canada Inc.
With just 25 units for all of Canada, this high-performance sports car features a long list of upgrades that hone the GR Supra’s already impressive handling, plus an eye-catching finish inside and out.”

The Walk Around
While the GR Supra is available in White, the MkV Final Edition with GT4 Style Pack in the matte black, aptly titled Undercover, is absolutely sinister. The car is not only sexy but exudes speed standing still. From the front, it’s narrow stance, low down nose and front spoiler with the minimal ground clearance give it a sleek, mysterious look worthy of its racing heritage.
The side profile highlights the aerodynamic lines of this sports car showcasing the 19″ matte black wheels and low profile tires. As you walk around the back, the carbon fibre ducktail rear spoiler rounds out the GT4 inspiration. All you have to do now is turn it on and listen.
In my experience with the car, everywhere I drove it, the engine sound turned heads. If I was parked, onlookers stopped to ask questions. It’s a show piece.
Watch the video and you will hear what I am talking about.
The Cockpit
Step inside and the race inspiration continues starting with the 14-way power adjustable leather sport seats, contrasted with red stitching and the GR badging showcased at the head rest. Heated front seats offer driver seat memory system and hug every part of the body. A carbon fibre center console houses the stick shift with leather shifter boot, wireless phone charger and 8.8″ touch screen with touchpad rotary screen control.

The absolute worst thing to experience when you are sitting in the cockpit of the GR Supra MkV Final Edition is traffic. I don’t think it matters what city you live in, trying to maintain some sort of calm behind the wheel of the GR Supra MkV Final Edition in traffic is next to impossible.
The moment the clutch comes up and the foot goes down, that high performance engine sound kicks in and your foot gets heavy. The RPM climbs, the engine rumbles to the point of flipping down to second and . . . . you have to brake. Excruciatingly difficult.
Driving
The MkV offers an elevated driving experience. The MkV is powered by a high performance 3.0L turbocharged power plant producing 382 HP and 368 ft. lb. torque with a 6-speed manual transmission, rear wheel drive, boasting 0-60 in 3.9 seconds; 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with an 8-speed automatic transmission but where’s the skill driving an automatic sports car?
Additional driving features include Sport Mode with Launch Control (available at the touch of a button beside the shifter), active differential, adaptive variable suspension and active steering. Also available is hill hold assist. If you know how to drive manual transmission, chances are the first thing you were taught is how to start on a hill. Hill hold is nice but if you can’t start on a hill without it, drive automatic. lol
With optimized performance comes enhanced braking control with 4-piston Brembo disc brakes. Suspension and chassis modifications made enhance stability and overall contact with the road. Cornering in this vehicle is precise and there is no over-steer whatsoever. Move the wheel an inch and you will get an inch from the steering.
Electronically controlled shock absorbers have also been revised not for comfort but rather for performance. As this two-seater has a long nose, you are sitting on the rear axel so performance takes precedence over comfort.
The reverse lights are rather cool as they only appear as a small cluster of LEDs between the dual muffler sport exhaust.
The GR Supra MkV Final Edition is a looker and with the high performance vocals to match the style of the car, you could say it is a show-off.
Who is the Supra buyer?
As it stands, who is the buyer? From my perspective, this is second car, not an everyday driving vehicle. It is built for speed and performance that only a track offers. So already, the buyer has to be someone of wealth. This raises the age demographic immediately so it has to be someone with life experience.
As the GR Supra MkV Final Edition peak performance is at high speed well beyond the legal limit, its driver will be someone willing to accept a ticket, have the money to pay a fine or risk an impound by B.C. law.
The GR Supra MkV Final Edition belongs on the track. In the Okanagan, Area 27 is a private, members only, track. Membership (last I heard) is approximately $30-40K annual. People that spend that kind of cash to be a member at a private race track are not the people bringing a 2026 Toyota GR Supra MkV Final Edition to track days. Those people are McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche etc. owners. An $85K Toyota would be pocket change for that demographic.
