Tribute to Dad on Father’s Day

Tribute to Dad on Father’s Day

A tribute to my father today pictured at the grand opening of his first Yamaha dealership in Lumsden Saskatchewan in the early 70’s. That’s me on the right seated in front of  mom.

Dad, you have taught me so many things – how to never give up, how to work hard for what you want and that life presents you everything you want but it only feels right if you have earned it.

You came to Canada as an immigrant and immediately you strived for the top and opened your own business. You took us all over the world to show us that there were no boundaries to what you could do.

You bought me my first car – that 1975 Valiant that you surprised with in your garage and then calmly closed the door and told me the keys were mine when I had earned enough money for insurance. A lesson I will never forget and one that has brought me many laughs.

Even though we didn’t have a traditional yard, you still asked the drivers to arrange the motorcycle crates in such a way that we could still play hide and seek at night when the shop closed.

So, today, Dad, I want to wish you the best Father’s Day possible – wish I was there.
