Race Inspired Performance with Urban Attitude

It may have been the colour of the bike, Cosmic Yellow as Triumph named it, but once I got behind the bars of the 2024 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS, the famous Mohammed Ali quote “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!” popped into my head. What a bike! Definitely the killer bee of the mid-weight naked roadsters. The last time I had ridden was in 2012.

Background

What started in 2007 as a 675 with roughly 105 hp became a 765 with a new engine and three variations, (S, R & RS) by 2017. The newer engine boosted the horsepower and Triumph introduced digital electronics and riding modes.

By 2020, Öhlins suspension, Triumph Shift Assist and Brembo brakes were standard parts. Fast forward to 2024 and I am presented with another opportunity to ride the model.

Styling & Technology

The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS embodies an aggressive, stripped-back style that perfectly balances race-inspired performance with urban attitude. Its sharp lines, angular bodywork, and minimalist tail (yes, a tail tidy is a popular accessory) give it a lean, purposeful silhouette.

The twin LED headlights add a menacing presence up front. Every detail—from the sculpted fuel tank to the exposed subframe—emphasizes agility and speed, with premium finishes like the brushed aluminum components and color-matched belly pan highlighting its high-end build quality.

The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS wears its Moto2 DNA proudly, blending raw mechanical aesthetics with refined modern design in a way that speaks to both track-day thrill-seekers and street riders who appreciate style with substance. The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS screams “try me”.

Features that set apart the Triumph Street Triple RS apart from the ‘R’ include tank colour matching belly panel and pillion cowl (don’t worry, you won’t want to two up with this ride), radiator cowls and added sporty yet subtle graphics. For example, the Triumph moniker “For the Ride” on the belly panel.

Power on and the new TFT display will offer just about anything you can think of, including Bluetooth functionality to connect your phone and operate from the touch screen. Your phone can be plugged into the dash mounted USB to maintain a charge as you ride.

Turn the key and you are presented with the latest rider enhanced technology offered yet on a Triumph Street Triple 765 RS. You can personalize your ride by adding your name to the digital display so it greets you each time you power on.

You can choose between several ride modes – Road, Rain, Sport, Track and a combination of specifications for each in Rider mode.

With each setting comes optimized cornering ABS and Traction Control. In Track mode, you can time your laps and monitor your performance to improve time as you improve technique.

The rider stance on the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS strikes a precise balance between aggressive sportiness and everyday usability. With higher-set foot pegs and low, wide handlebars, the position encourages a slightly forward-leaning posture ideal for spirited riding and quick transitions through corners.

It’s not as extreme as a full supersport crouch (although if you really want to crouch, you have room), allowing for longer rides without excessive fatigue, yet it still delivers a connected, engaged feel that keeps the rider in tune with the bike’s sharp handling.

The seat height is relatively tall at nearly 33″ (836mm), which provides good visibility and leverage in turns. The narrow tank and sculpted seat make it easier to grip the bike with the knees—enhancing control during both track riding and aggressive street use.

The rider triangle was perfect for my height at 5’11” and a 34″ inseam. No hip compression or wrist pain. I did not take it to the track however but still enjoyed a nimble and responsive high-speed experience on the highway.

Granted this is a naked bike, and taking into account it was an early season ride and my neck muscles had been slouching all winter, when I reached 110-120 km/h, wind resistance under the chin had me engaging my neck muscles to keep my helmet from lifting.

In an attempt to eliminate the issue, I crouched only to experience wind resistance at the top of my helmet. I am thinking a front cowl accessory will solve this problem but I did not have the opportunity to try it out.

Power & Performance

The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS delivers a thrilling blend of race-derived power and razor-sharp performance. Experience the smoothness of a 765 cc inline three-cylinder engine, wet‑sump and liquid‑cooled, tuned to produce top end power with 128 hp (95.6 kW) at 12,000 rpm, and mid-range torque with 59 lb‑ft (≈80 Nm) peaking around 9,500 RPM.

It is no surprise the engine powers the Moto2TM World Championships, and has seen success in World Supersport, British Supersport, TT Supersport and the checkered flag of the Daytona 200.

You can climb the gears easy or increase your revs and launch. The Triumph Street Triple 765 RS has multiple personalities to suit your every whim. The smooth power delivery and shorter gear ratio combined with Triumph Shift Assist create seamless operation and an effortless riding experience.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the 2024 Triumph Street Triple 765 RS embodies the epitome of high-performance motorcycling. With its race-proven engine and versatile capabilities, this machine stands as a testament to Triumph’s engineering prowess. Whether cruising city streets or dominating the track, the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS delivers an unparalleled riding experience that enthusiasts crave.
