In all my adventures of riding, meeting this lady was a highlight. It is with a heavy heart that I learned of her passing but it is with a smile that I see her spirit has touched so many by all the online comments, gatherings, tributes and photos being posted. Florence Fuhr was truly one of a kind. When someone passes, you don’t know what to do as is true in my case.
What I can do is share her memory as I know there are many people out there that she has crossed paths with who can’t help but smile when her name is mentioned.
If you don’t know who she is, I can share with you the original story I wrote about her after a chance meeting while riding.
Goin’ with the Flo in the Kootenays – a story behind every bike.
There is also book written by Tamela Rich – and photographed by Christina Shook – that includes stories of Flo’s Conga ride fundraising adventures.
Those able to attend a celebration of life are invited to Eagles Hall, Campbell River, B.C. at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016. I may be safe to say those attending will be dressed in pink as opposed to black. It is what Flo would want.
