The checkered flag in Assen earned Valentino Rossi his 80th GP victory and his first since 2010. Joining him on the podium were pole-sitter, Cal Crutchlow and record breaker Marc Marquez. What I find interesting, however, is that Jorge Lorenzo, after breaking his collarbone during practice, then undergoing surgery (I assume to place it), came back to race Assen and took fifth place! He was only cleared to race four hours before the event and had his surgery in Barcelona and then came back to Holland.
