As riders we all know that there is a great risk riding a motorcycle and chances are – at some point in our riding time – we may go down. There is also a good chance it won’t be our fault.
On Sunday, it happened to a rider in Ontario. Why? Someone else’s stupidity. A 20-year old driver had a canoe in his truck, didn’t tie it down properly and the canoe came loose, flew off the truck and struck the bike. The two riders were both air-lifted to hospital in serious condition – a 49 year-old man and his gal pal of the same age.
The worst part is they were taking part in the annual Ride for Dad prostate cancer fundraiser and were one of 250 bikes participating. The driver of the truck, uninjured of course, gets charged with failing to secure a load.
Be safe everyone!
