For a spectacular national park, the highway on the west side of the park is not even close to spectacular. In fact, it is quite disgraceful. Any visitor coming from Vancouver first has to deal with an absolutely atrocious mess that is trying to mask itself as highway construction all along the #1 out of the city. No road lines, grooves, potholes, equipment, cement barricades and mass confusion paired with drivers that seem to be in a hurray to beat you to the next section of gridlock.
When you finally get out of that mess and head for the mountains anticipating getting into ‘the zone’, the road isn’t any better.
On the bright side, Manning Park is fabulous and I enjoyed taking time out to socialize with some critters and admire the size of the Ravens – They are huge!
