Canadian Motorcycle Association announces TEAM CANADA rosters for 2014 ISDE.
Canada continues to increase its presence on the worldwide enduro stage with the announcement of the 2014 ISDE Team Canada rosters. This year, Canada will send five teams with a total of 19 riders to compete in some of the toughest terrain that only the DAKAR RALLY is known for.
Leading the ladies team is 2010 and 2012 ISDE competitor from British Columbia, Victoria Hett. Hett is the first Canadian female to ever complete an ISDE and in 2012 she ranked in the top 10. Joining her on the women’s trophy team are 2013 Italy competitors, bronze medalist, Felicia Robichaud of Cornwall, Ontario and Gold Medalist, Shelby Turner of Barons, Alberta. All three combined have a good chance to move up to a podium position for Canada but will need national support to achieve this goal.
New this year is the entrance of a male trophy team for Canada made up of Phillippe Chaine of Chesterville, Quebec, Iain Hayden of Holland Centre, Ontario, Shawn Maffenbeir of Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Bob Reed of Pincher Creek, Alberta, Jared Stock of Calgary, Alberta and one more member yet to be announced.
Canada will enter a junior trophy team for the second time made up of Albertan newcomers Matt Coonfer of Chetermere Lake, Ryan Linderman of Hillcrest Mines, and Avery Turner of Barons with one returning member, Ty McKenna of Medicine Hat.
Two Club teams will also represent Canada, one from BC and one from Alberta. Club Team Alberta is Scott Coonfer of Chestermere Lake, Sean MacKenzie of Coaldale and Cliint Riviere of Pincher Creek. Representing BC is Kitt Stringer of Shawningan Lake, Esteban Torees Bonet of Victoria and Steve Wheatley of Vancouver.
