Continuing what they started on day one of the Centennial edition of the FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) in Olbia, Sardinia – France have claimed a second winning result in the World Trophy Team, comfortably topping the competition on day two. With riders returning to the same course and special tests as on day one, competitors in all classes endured a tough day as the dust and the rocks took their toll on riders from numerous nations. In the FIM World Trophy Team competition France claimed a second consecutive winning result and in doing so extended their class lead to just under five-minutes.
Australia, helped by an impressive runner-up result in the Enduro 3 class by Chris Hollis – KTM move up to second with the USA third. Host nation Italy currently holds fourth, as team leader Alex Salvini – Honda endured a day to forget. Collecting a three-minute time penalty the Enduro 2 World Champion placed forty-ninth in the E2 class. Spain holds fifth in the World Trophy class with Great Britain sixth.
With two days of competition complete France sit one-minute and six seconds ahead of Italy in the FIM Junior World Trophy competition. Helped by strong performances by Husaberg team mates Loic Larrieu and Mathias Bellino the French team heads towards the mid-way point of the event as the team to beat. Great Britain holds third, having moved up from their day one position of fourth. The USA, Sweden and Australia currently round out the top six respectively. Australia remains out front in the Women’s World Trophy competition helped by a day two winning result from Jessica Gardiner – Sherco and a second placed result from her team-mate Tayla Jones – KTM. Sweden’s Jessica Jonsson – Gas Gas was the third fastest female rider on day two. With Australia remaining ahead of Sweden and France in the Women’s World Trophy results, Jessica Gardiner stays at the top of the individual Women’s results ahead of Jones and Jonsson.
In the Enduro 1 class it was Spain’s Cristobal Guerrero – KTM who topped day two. Making it a memorable day for Spain’s Lorenzo Santolino – Husqvarna placed as class runner-up with Frenchman Jeremy Joly – Honda third. In the progressive E1 class results Guerrero leads from Santolino and Joly. Riders from three different nations placed at the top of the Enduro 2 class on day two as Australia’s Daniel Milner – Yamaha secured the win ahead of France’s Johnny Aubert – KTM with USA team rider Taylor Robert – Kawasaki third. After two of the six days of competition it’s Milner who leads the progressive E2 results ahead of Aubert and Taylor. Antoine Meo – KTM was the rider to beat in the Enduro 3 class on day two, finishing close to two minutes ahead of his closest rival Chris Hollis – KTM. Third was Frenchman Mathias Bellino – Husaberg. In the progressive E3 class results Meo sits just under three minutes ahead of Mike Brown – KTM with Hollis third.
Day three will see the riders face the day one and day two course in the reverse direction
