As the MotoGP continues in Spain this weekend at Aragon, and with only five races left in the season, www.motogp.com has posted a video illustrating the lean angle of its riders using Yamaha Factory racer, Jorge Lorenzo’s bike. It is truly amazing to watch how these guys can manoeuvre these machines while clocking straight away speeds of over 210 mph yet, as Lorenzo illustrates in the video, rider’s can’t hold the position on the bike when standing still.
Why talk about angles now? This weekend’s live coverage will feature two new graphics that highlight edge grip (not more than the space of a credit card per tire), and maximum lean angle which, as illustrated below, is far beyond any lean of an average rider. Go to www.motogp.com and register online in order to watch the video.
Learning how to lean a bike is something I will be experiencing later this Fall as I head to California Superbike School for a two day intensive track session. You can check them out by clicking HERE
